Our people

The STAR Foundation stands for a society where people with disabilities are visible, supported, and empowered to fulfil their potential through sport, physical activity, and a sense of belonging. Real change begins with collaboration, visibility, and turning inspiration into action.

Paal Juul Aschjem

Founder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board

As the founder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the STAR Foundation, I aim to help build a foundation that creates genuine and lasting opportunities for people with disabilities in Estonia.

I believe that everyone should have an equal right to fulfil their potential and participate fully in sport, education, and working life.

I want to contribute to the work of the STAR Foundation because inclusion benefits individuals, strengthens communities, and serves society as a whole.

When everyone can participate, everyone benefits.

Meelis Joost

Founder

I became actively involved in cooperation between the Nordic countries and Estonia when I was just 18 years old. When I was invited to take part in discussions about establishing the STAR Foundation and learned that the initiative was inspired by Norway’s Stiftelsen VI, I decided that I wanted to contribute and share my experience in both cross-border cooperation and working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses. I hope this initiative will grow into a significant and lasting force for positive change in Estonian society.

Sirli Väinsar

Founder

In the world I dream of, choices are made based on interests and abilities, not accessibility or limited opportunities. Through my work with the STAR Foundation, I help broaden the range of choices available.
